Co-founder and President of McGinn & Teixeira P.A (DBA: Carrollwood Counseling)., moved to Florida from Kansas City in May of 1988. At that time, she was accepted into the Counselor Education program at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Her goal was to go into private practice. After graduating in 1991, she worked in various settings and with clients who presented a variety of concerns. When she thought that she had gained enough valuable experience by working with clients in these settings and working with other counselors, she started her private practice in Spring Hill, Florida in 1998.
In 2004, she joined with Jim Teixeira and moved her practice to Tampa.
Karol is active in professional organizations and has been a board member of the Suncoast Mental Health Counselors’ Association, the Florida Mental Health Counselors’ Association, and the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association . She is a member of the American Mental Health Counselor’s Association and the Suncoast Mental Health Counselors Association.
Her credentials include a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas; two degrees from the University of Florida (a master’s and a specialist); licensing from the State of Florida to be a Licensed Mental Health Counselor; and national credentials as a National Certified Counselor.
Karol has been a teacher in both middle and high schools. She has presented workshops on parenting, at risk adolescents, families, criminal thinking, addictions, team building and clinical documentation.

I was born in California and lived in several states and countries during my service in the United States Marine Corps.
I graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas with a Bachelors of Arts Degree and from the University of South Florida with a Master's Degree in Guidance and Counseling.
Prior to beginning our Private Practice, I worked for several agencies addressing the emotional and behavioral needs of children, adolescents and adults. (Click to view Vita).

I am a Past President of the Suncoast Mental Health Counselors Association that serves Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando and Sarasota counties, and is the largest chapter in Florida; a former board member of the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association; and a Past President of the Florida Adlerian Society.
My counseling experience includes working with clients-adults, adolescents and children-who have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, relationship difficulties, parenting-child relationships, reactive attachment disorders, eating disorders, drug and alcohol and co-occurring disorders.
I am trained in Systematic Training for Effective Parenting techniques for working with families.
Workshops and seminars where I have presented include topics regarding the family, parenting, adolescents, addictions, clinical documentation, and psychosocial assessments.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor from the State of Florida and a National Certified Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) .
